You feel like going to Sri Lanka because you saw it on Instagram. The problem is that the person who recommended it to you was an AI

The image is familiar. A young woman smiles from a beach with turquoise waters. In the following publication, he appears walking along a cobblestone street in Marrakech. Below, he poses at a luxury hotel in the Maldives. The skin is perfect, the body responds to the prevailing canons and the text accompanies with inspirational phrases about traveling, discovering cultures and “living in the moment.” Nothing seems out of place. Until you discover the reality. That traveler has not flown, she has not walked those streets or tried the food she recommends. It doesn’t exist. She is an influencer generated by artificial intelligence and is part of a phenomenon that is growing quietly: the normalization of artificial profiles that influence the real decisions of millions of people. A silent, but massive boom. In the last two years, Instagram and other social networks have been filled with virtual influencers: characters created with generative AI who pretend to be real people and publish travel content, lifestyle or fashion, the best known case in Spain is Aitana Lopez. Some indicate it more or less clearly in their biography; others do so ambiguously or almost invisibly. However, what is interesting here is how the examples multiply in the tourism sector. Sena Z has been presented as “the first travel and hospitality influencer created with AI”, It’s a collaboration between the luxury group Cenizaro Hotels & Resorts and the technology firm Bracai. Sena publishes cultural recommendations, messages about sustainability and photographs from exotic destinations. Another notable case is Emma, the official influencer and chatbot of the German National Tourism Office. Emma not only publish content on Instagrambut answers questions in more than 20 languages from the official website of the organization. As explained from the entity to the Washington Postits creation is part of a strategy to “stay at the forefront of digital innovation.” Other profiles are added to these profiles, such as Radhika, Emily Pellegrinior corporate avatars like Samathe Qatar Airways virtual stewardess who appears both on the airline’s website and on social networks, publishing as if she were living real experiences. These are not isolated experiments. As detailed by The New York Timesairlines, tourist offices and brands are increasingly turning to these avatars because they are cheaper, faster and completely controllable. An AI influencer does not get sick, does not get tired, does not age and does not generate personal controversies. Inexperienced influencers. The question is inevitable: what happens when the experience is not real? Just look through these profiles to see it: they recommend destinations, restaurants and cultures that they have not experienced. Even so, they generate engagementaccumulate thousands of likes and comments, and influence travel decisions. From the brands’ point of view, the appeal is evident. According to data collected by the New York mediacreating an advanced avatar can cost between $5,000 and $15,000, compared to traditional campaigns that easily exceed six figures. In addition, content can be produced without travel, without filming equipment and without negotiating with human talent. However, for real creators, the impact is already being felt. Human influencers cited by the same medium explain that brands are reducing payments, eliminating extras and offering less advantageous collaborations. AI thus becomes a new direct competition within the creative economy, a sector valued at more than 200 billion dollars globally. Is someone regulating it? While Technology advances quickly, regulation tries to catch up. Going home, in Europe, the clearest answer comes through the Artificial Intelligence Regulations (AI Act). Article 50, which will come into force in August 2026establishes transparency obligations for providers and users of AI systems. Among them: Report when a person interacts with an AI system. Mark content generated or manipulated by AI (text, image, audio or video) in detectable format. Force deepfakes and AI-generated texts that report on matters of public interest to be declared, unless there is human editorial review. The European Commission has already started the preparation of a Code of Good Practices for the marking and labeling of content generated by AI, with the participation of experts, platforms and civil society. The goal is to facilitate compliance before the law is fully applicable. However, many virtual profiles do not clearly indicate either their artificial nature or their commercial links, leaving the user in a field of ambiguity. Unreal bodies, algorithmic authority. Beyond destination promotion, most AI influencers share common traits: eternal youth, slim bodies, perfect skin and a total absence of imperfections. This phenomenon coincides with the return of Y2K aesthetics and extreme thinness on social networks, a trend that has been linked to a decline in body diversity. The most notable case was due to advertising campaigns with models generated by AI, like Guess in Vogue. Mental health experts warned that constant exposure to unreal bodies can aggravate self-esteem problems and increase risk of eating disorders. The difference, they point out, is key: while traditional retouching started from a real body, AI creates bodies that have never existedimpossible to achieve even in theory. This logic has been taken to the extreme with phenomena such as the Miss IA pageantwhere artificially generated models compete showing bodies without pores, without age and without history. According to plastic surgeonsmore and more patients come to consultation with images created by AI asking for impossible interventions and pointing out the risk of frustration, obsession and psychological damage. The underlying problem: we no longer know what is real. All of this occurs in a broader context: a crisis of visual confidence. As my colleague in Xataka has analyzedthe massive generation of hyperrealistic images has broken a chain that for centuries seemed solid: if something was seen, it had probably existed. Today, that presumption has disappeared. Seeing is no longer equivalent to knowing. In this new scenario, we not only doubt whether an influencer has really traveled, but also whether the image itself corresponds to something that happened. The consequence is a permanent suspicion that affects memory, attention and the way we relate to digital reality. The technical solution—seals, metadata, … Read more

Reddit’s AI has recommended heroin use to treat pain. It’s actually the most Reddit thing that could happen

In December of last year Reddit announced Reddit Answersa chatbot-type AI tool that draws on all the information shared by Reddit users. Everything was going well until he started giving medical advice and ended up recommending that a user take heroin. Knowing the tone of some users of the platform, this is actually the most Reddit could respond. what has happened. They tell it in 404Medium. The recommendation appeared on the r/FamilyMedicine subreddit in a question about how to manage pain without using opioid substances. First he suggested using kratom, an unregulated substance that is banned in some states. The user who created the thread asked about the use of heroin to manage pain, to which Reddit Answers gave several answers: one warned him of the danger, while another directed him to users who had had good experiences with heroin to treat pain. Angry moderators. The user who reported the responses, who is also a moderator and works in the health sector, published an extensive post warning of the danger of this type of response. He complains that moderators cannot deactivate Reddit Answers in their communities and that this is a problem especially when dealing with sensitive topics such as physical and mental health. Solution. Reddit Answers is still in beta, but has already been launched in many countries and languages. In the case of the mobile app, suggestions appear within the threads and, as we said, they cannot be deleted. After complaints from users, the platform made an important change and now Reddit Answers does not provide answers on sensitive topics. It now displays the following message: “Reddit Answers does not provide answers to some questions, including those that may be potentially unsafe or may violate Reddit policies.” The answers depend on the users. According to Reddit itselfthe replies feature uses artificial intelligence so we can “get answers, insights, and recommendations from all over Reddit.” That means that if a user tells in a thread that heroin saved their life, it can appear on Reddit Answers, which is exactly what happened. On a platform where anonymity is the norm, tone outputs either confessions of crazy stories They are the order of the day. Imagine that an AI responds to us based on the content of Forocoches. Well that. Image | Brett Jordan in Unsplash In Xataka | The price to pay for having AI is the looting of all Internet content. And Perplexity is just the latest example

Repairing scratches with Mercadona’s hair lacquer is as effective as it is not recommended

A small one in the front bumper. Another in the right rear wing. And one who did not give importance at the driver’s door and now bothers you. Small friction and damage In the body without much importance. No, at least, to call insurance, however they reduce the image of our car. Because who likes to have the car as a new one always has in those little taps, in some frictions that seemed of little entity, some notches for which they end up suffering. Here we collect some tricks to remove the lighter damage. A small without importance That is what we usually think when these types of small shocks or blows that end up leaving our cars full of notches that at first seemed to go unnoticed. To solve it there are a good number of small tricks and homemade solutions that multiply through social networks. Some more or less recommended. The first thing to consider is the depth of the scratch. If this is deep and has crossed more than one paint layer, it is best to go to a professional if you want to eliminate the same Without leaving a mark. It will be necessary to paint the area and it is essential to use the same tone as in the rest of the body so that it is not striking or obvious that something happened there. When rubbing is not deep, there are various recommendations. From Xataka We propose to get a Specific product for this task. Ha of various types. Some include a simple suede to remove the excesses of the product but others also with polisher and polisher To leave everything as new. Although this, we point out, we believe it is the best option, there are some homemade tricks that can be useful in a timely manner but that are not recommended when you want to make intensive use of them. One that has gone viral on social networks is to apply Mercadona lacquer. The idea is apply hair lacquer on the body and pass a microfiber cloth. The rubbing should disappear but the damage is done and is only a cosmetic improvement that reduces its visibility. Juliwheels on Instagram (More than 350,000 followers) Explain the process and close with a resounding “Flip how it looks.” The problem is that this type of lacquer can contain chemicals that damage the body of the car and, therefore, kill the brightness of the paint or in the worst case to cause its fall. It is not something that will happen with a single punctual application but they are risks that are being repeated in time. These types of tricks, such as using an antigrase product or Vinegar for car wheelsThey usually have little aesthetic route but, in addition, they usually damage the protective layers of the vehicle itself, putting its aesthetics at risk over time. There are multitude of similar cases. It is about applying a slight layer of olive oil, sodium bicarbonate or removing alcohol and, subsequently, conscientiously clean the surface. All of them, as we said, are remedies to get out of the way. The same can happen if we apply toothpaste, which is used as a puller when rubbing it against the surface. This last remedy, for example, is also usually used to polish the headlights of the car, something that works aesthetically but can cause dispersions in the beam of light and, therefore, worsen visibility. Tenants spend more than recommended for rent. And there is something that explains it: “Hot Spots” internationalized

Buying house is not easy. Rent, either. Every month a large part of Spanish families living as tenants disheve The advice Of the experts and expose their pockets to situations of “overexertion”, which means that they are forced to pay their landlords a pinch of their income greater than desirable. When it goes down to detail, like He has just made idealisthowever, a curious phenomenon is observed: not in all cities the tenants make the same effort. Moreover, there are many provincial capitals in which this effort is totally assumed. The Great question Therefore it is: is overwriting a problem of the Spanish residential market in general or rather something that weighs on certain internationalized cities, such as Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga? A percentage: 36%. That is the “effort rate” that supported the closure of 2024 Spanish households living for rent. Or at least this has been calculated idealist in A study in which he nourishes two major sources: the ads published on their own website and the National Statistics Institute (INE), which has served to obtain information on homes and rent of families. The data is interesting because (technicalities separately) the “effort rate” is an important indicator for any tenant: shows what percentage of income dedicates to paying your home. The general recommendation is that this expense It does not exceed 30% of annual profits. There are those who stretch it a little more and talk about overwhelming alone From 40%. One or another reference is taken, idealist reflects that on Middle Spain exceeds the 30% barrier and steady the red zone. Click on the image to go to Tweet. A figure: 981 euros. The study Not only does the thermometer that Spaniards make to pay their rentals make. It also goes down to data in euros and sound. And its conclusion is that, on average, in Spain there is a two -room -type floor requires 981 euros per month, quite above what it would have to cost for a home standard He could rent it without crossing that red line of 30% of his annual income. Idealista believes that this “reasonable” and assumed price is 764 euros. The fact is interesting again for several reasons. First because it reflects that the difference between the “reasonable” price and the average that is handled in the market is 217 euros per month. Second because the study shows that there are very few homes that fit (or are below) of those 764 euros. According to their calculations, they are only 32%, which means that the remaining 68% of the rental housing offer requires the tenants to tighten their finances. A city: Barcelona. In Your study Idealista goes down to the detail of some provincial capitals, which allows you to appreciate an interesting reality. The effort to deal with rentals is not equally intense in all cities. Moreover, there are enough cities in which (on average) families are not even forced to cross the red line of 30% of their annual income. It is well seen comparing two extreme cases: Barcelona and Ciudad Real. In the first, the city, idealist Calculate That the “reasonable rent” for a two -bedroom floor would be 1,036 euros. That is, that is the monthly income that Barcelona families could pay without having to spend more money from their recommended income. However, there are very few houses that fit that stop, only 16%. Royal market rentals are much higher and are on average in 1,796, which explains that the city has the highest effort rate of the capitals: 49%. In the opposite pole is Ciudad Real, where Idealista’s photo It is radically different. There the “reasonable rental” barrier would be at 881 euros, an amount to which 98% of the homes offered are adjusted. Moreover, the average monthly payment is requested by a two -bedroom house is 501 euros, below that red line. Consequently, the effort rate is only 16%. Capital Effort rate (two bedroom housing) Barcelona 49% Palm 45% Malaga 42% Madrid, Valencia 41% Alicante 38% Segovia 35% Las Palmas de GC, Donostia 34% S/C of Tenerife 33% Bilbao 32% Girona 31% Seville 30% Cádiz 28% Granada, Vitoria-Gasteiz 27% Pamplona, Coruña 26% Ceuta, Salamanca, Guadalajara, Santander, Huelva, Almería 25% Tarragona, Pontevedra, Oviedo, Córdoba, Albacete, Castellón de la Plana 24% León, Valladolid, Zaragoza, Logroño, Ávila 23% Murcia, Badajoza, Zamora, Soria, Lugo, Burgos 22% Ourense, Cuenca, Cáceres, Lleida, Huesca, Toledo 21% Melilla, Jaén 20% Palencia, Teruel 19% Ciudad Real 16% Spain 36% One question: Is it an isolated case? No. Neither from Barcelona nor that of Ciudad Real. In fact, the report reveals something else: that although on Middle Spain it registers an effort rate of 36%, several points above the desirable for tenants, in reality that indicator only exceeds 30% in a handful of large capitals characterized by its high population, internationalization and tourist profile. In Malaga, for example, which has highlighted In recent years for its ability to capture technological multinationals and as Digital nomad destinationthe effort rate is 42%. In tourist points such as Palma, Valencia, Alicante, Las Palmas, Donostia or Tenerife also exceed 30%. A fact: 39 capitals. Ciudad Real is not the only town in which the effort rate is in the lathe or even below 20%. In the same situation are Teruel, Palencia, Jaén and Melilla. In general, the idealist reflects that there are 39 capitals in which the indicator does not reach 30%. Eight other provincial headwaters move between 30 and 40% and there are five between 40 and 49%. The data are in line with the evolution of the effort rate nationallywhich has remained between 2020 and 2021 around 30% and has increased in recent years, but without exceeding 40%, such as In Barcelona or Madrid. A footnote. The idealist study is just that, a study. And as such it must be taken, also taking into account that focusing its analysis on a very concrete profile: its authors have focused on a profile of 2.4 people/home, “a current average … Read more

Say goodbye to dark circles with this routine recommended by an expert

Taking a look at all the questions I have received in the office during these weeks, I have been struck by how much the topic of baggy eyes. There are many factors that influence and that are not in your control, such as genetic predisposition, which plays a very important role, but you should know that there are other factors that yes they depend on you if you want to say goodbye to dark circles. “Some people have dark circles under their eyes simply because they have inherited thinner skin under the eyes or more pigment in that area,” Gema Cabañero, founder and director of the Gema Cabañero Advanced Aesthetics and Antiaging Clinic, tells me. But lifestyle is also an essential factor in understanding why some people have dark circles and others don’t. © livmanni “Factors such as smoking, ingesting excessive amounts of alcohol and having a diet high in salt and deficient, in which essential nutrients are missingcan worsen the health of the skin and make dark circles more visible. Another cause that causes some people to be more predisposed to having dark circles than others is rest. “People who do not have correct sleep hygiene are much more likely to trigger an inflammatory response in the body that can cause different skin conditions that go beyond dark circles. In addition, sleep promotes the balance of hydration in the skin and repairing the skin barrier,” adds Cabañero, who is also director of R&D&I at the nutricosmetic firm 180 The Concept. If what you want is to prevent its appearance, the expert recommends that, in addition to avoiding alcohol and tobacco, be careful, especially with the sun. “We should not expose our face for prolonged periods of time without proper protection.. “This will cause excessive production of melanin which can lead to hyperpigmentation in this area.” © valentinaferragni To know the causes of dark circles and how to treat them, the expert differentiates four types that can be classified into: Dark circles due to genetics: They are hereditary and appear from an early age. They usually have a brownish tone and tend to be difficult to treat, however, they can improve their appearance with the correct aesthetic treatments. Dark circles due to lack of sleep: Lack of sleep causes a variation in blood circulation around the eyes, causing blood vessels to dilate and become visible under the skin, causing bluish dark circles. Don’t forget that sleeping well has a profound impact on your general well-being: during sleep the body enters a process of cellular repair and regeneration and this phase is essential so that aging is not accelerated. In addition, sleep also plays a crucial role in hormonal balance, closely related to skin health. Therefore, sleeping well is one of the simplest and most effective ways to take care of your beauty from the inside out. Dark circles due to aging: The loss of collagen and elastin can contribute to the skin in this area losing elasticity and firmness. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and thinner, contributing to the formation of dark circles under the eyes that often appear next to bags. Pigmented dark circles: This type of dark circles, characterized by being brown in color and contrasting with the rest of the skin tone, are motivated, above all, by excessive and prolonged sun exposure for years, which results in an overproduction of melanin by the body. © chloelecareux Taking advantage of the fact that I have had the opportunity to speak with Gema Cabañero, I have asked her what routines we can do at home and there is one that is very easy and simple: drink at least two liters of water a day. “It is essential to stay well hydrated and, in this way, prevent the skin from looking dry and dull. In addition, I also recommend using a facial mask once a week. eye contour focused on solving the condition that worries us most. If we want hydrating and soothing results, we will look for hyaluronic acid or aloe vera among the ingredients. If we want to give the area extra luminosity, it will be important to integrate Vitamin C or retinol.” And if you have had a bad night, a good way to hide dark circles quickly can be through the use of the well-known gel patches. “It is important that they integrate hyaluronic acid, collagen or caffeine into their formula to increase their moisturizing and decongestant power.” 1) ‘Eye and Lip Contour – Nuxuriance Ultra’, NUXE / 2) ‘The Rich Eye Cream’, Augustinus Bader / 3) ‘Icelandic Essence – Eye Serum’, LICO / 4) ‘Renewing Mask – Eye Contour Area’, Nescens / 5) ‘Wake-up serum roll-on’, Biovène Barcelona To keep this area of the face healthy, it is essential that you include a specific cosmetic for the eye contour in your daily routine. Now there are two launches that I recommend: NUXE and Augustinus Bader, who have released two great products so you can start the year with a perfect look. I love them for their texture, they absorb very quickly and leave the skin nourished and firm, in addition to reducing expression lines in record time. I also want to try LICO’s ‘Icelandic Essence’ eye contour and I have signed up for the new Nescens mask, which works as an intensive treatment to treat and correct dark circles, wrinkles and bags. It contains hyaluronic acid, peptides and powerful antioxidants, as well as caffeine, which is an active ingredient that acts as a vasoconstrictor, meaning it narrows blood vessels, reducing the appearance of dark circles and bags under the eyes. Another caffeinated option is the Biovène Barcelona roll-on, designed for tired, dull skin prone to dark circles and puffiness. You can also use eye contour products that include Vitamin C: an antioxidant that helps brighten the skin and reduce pigmentation; hyaluronic acid: a powerful moisturizer that helps retain water in the skin, making it look smoother and less fatigued; and retinol: for … Read more
