Kobe Bryant’s legacy in a book

Next August 19 of this year will be a special date for fans of Kobe Bryantthe basketball legend, and his daughter Gianna “Gigi” Bryant, when it hits bookstores Mamba & Mambacita Forever.

The book, carefully prepared by Vanessa Bryant, Kobe’s widow and Gianna’s mother, seeks to immortalize the legacy of both of them, who died tragically. in a helicopter accident in 2020

The launch is not coincidental: a few days later, on August 24, Kobe Bryant Day is celebrated in Los Angeles and Orange County, a date that highlights the influence of his life and career, Vanity Fair reports.

The main purpose of this project is to pay tribute to Kobe, known for his fierce determination, discipline and competitive spirit that led him to be one of the greatest players in NBA history, and Gianna, a young athlete with an unwavering passion for women’s sports.

Mamba & Mambacita Forever book premiere

Through images and stories collected from murals and tributes around the world, Mamba & Mambacita Forever documents the impact of both, symbolizing their permanence in collective memory.

“Vanessa assures that the murals of Kobe and Gianna Bryant will endure even after the most monumental ones have collapsed”notes a press release about the book.

As a whole, the work draws a portrait of a man who transcended his status as an athlete to become a model of global inspiration, and of a young woman who began to build her own path with the same impetus.

Collaboration behind the pages

The production of the book included the collaboration of photographer Andrew D. Bernstein, who had previously worked with Kobe Bryant on The Mamba Mentality (2018).a work that offered a unique insight into the approach and work ethic that defined the player.

Bernstein brings his experience and closeness to the creative process, ensuring that each page of this new publication conveys the essence of what Kobe and Gianna represented.

On January 26, 2020, the lives of the Bryant family and seven others changed forever when the helicopter they were traveling in crashed in Calabasas, California.

Among the victims were Kobe, 41, and Gianna, just 13 years old, along with other players and parents from the youth basketball team in which Gianna participated.
