Beyond the numbers, the truth is that the M5 introduces a GPU with ray tracing third generation and a faster CPU, capable of moving video or 3D modeling projects with ease. Actual testing will tell how much that power translates into a tangible difference on a day-to-day basis.

Apple has reinforced the connectivity of the iPad Pro with components already tested in other products. The C1X modem, the same one that debuted in the iPhone Air, offers a speed increase of up to 50% on mobile networks and more efficient consumption. Compatibility with 5G and eSIM is also maintained. Added to this is the new N1 chip, which adds WiFi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread. There is no revolution, but there is a tangible improvement in stability and performance, something especially useful for those who use the iPad as a mobile work or creation tool.

The new iPad Pro maintains the same design language that debuted the previous generation, but takes thinness to the limit: the 11-inch model measures only 0.53 cm thick and the 13-inch model drops to 0.51 cm. The Ultra Retina XDR display repeats OLED technology in tandem, with up to 1,600 nits of maximum brightness in HDR and a very precise contrast. Apple also offers an option with nanotextured glass to reduce reflections without altering the color. Compatibility with external monitors at 120 Hz and fast charging – 50% in about 30 minutes – complete a package that prioritizes the visual experience and portability.

You may remember that iPadOS 26 was released in September 2025 and is available in a wide range of models, from the iPad A16 from entry to the most powerful Pro. Apple thus expanded the scope of its most ambitious system to date, with an update that completely redefined the way of working on a tablet. The new window manager allows you to move, overlay and resize apps with a freedom that until recently was unthinkable on iPadOS, while the Files app adds more detailed views and the option to set default apps for different types of documents.

On the iPad Pro, everything makes more sense. Its hardware allows you to take better advantage of tools such as the Preview app, background tasks or the functions of Apple Intelligencewhich add real-time translation and automatic actions in several system apps. These are steps that bring it even closer to the experience of a computer, although the real usefulness of these developments will depend on the adoption by developers and the regional expansion of AI functions.

The combination of iPad Pro, Magic Keyboard and external screen well summarizes the direction that Apple has been looking for for years: a tablet that works like a laptop, without losing its tactile essence. With the new window system and the possibility of connecting peripherals, the leap in fluidity is evident. Moving files between apps, responding to messages while editing video or working with two monitors no longer requires so much detours. However, the limit is not in the hardware, but in the software. For many users, the iPad Pro can now replace the laptop in most tasks; For others, that aspiration remains one step behind, especially in the professional field.

Despite the technical leap, there is still a clear line between the iPad Pro and a laptop. The power of the M5 does not change the fact that some applications remain shortened versions compared to macOS or Windows. It also does not solve certain limitations in advanced file management or in the simultaneous use of external peripherals. In professional environments, these differences outweigh performance numbers. The iPad Pro is fast, efficient and increasingly versatile, but it doesn’t completely replace a computer when you need an open, unrestricted workflow.

Price and availability of the new iPad Pro (2025)

The new iPad Pro can now be reserved and will hit stores on October 22. It is available in two sizes, 11 and 13 inches, both in silver or space black. The base model starts from 1,099 euros in its WiFi version, while the 13-inch one starts in 1,449 euros. There are also options with mobile connectivity, which raise the price to 1,349 and 1,699 euros respectively. With such a wide range and configurations reaching 2TB, the decision to renew will depend less on the desire to have the latest and more on whether the current iPad still meets the demands of each user.
