Samsung has very different folding ranges. There’s the new Fold8, which is the “foldable for everyone.” There is the Z Fold8 Ultra, the most complete and the most professional in nature; and there is the Galaxy Z Flip8the foldable for younger people who are looking, above all, for practicality and a small device to carry in their pocket or bag. Once again, the Korean company has renewed it to give it a good dose of Android 17improve FlexWindow and lighten it a little.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip8 is designed to be a pocket equipment. The Korean company has managed to reduce its thickness and weight to 6.1 mm and 180 grams (6.5 mm and 188 grams in the Z Flip7) while retaining the 6.9-inch screen diagonal. The rest of the specifications are similar to last year’s model, except for the peak brightness, which goes from 2,600 to 3,000 nits.
There are no significant changes to the design. Samsung has once again opted for a rear divided into two parts, the upper part being a generous 4.1-inch screen from which to interact with the AI, make calls, view notifications, etc.
We have another novelty in the hinge. Samsung has mounted a new technology called Flex Titanium which, roughly speaking, combines a titanium film with a titanium plate in the area of the wrinkle to, on paper, reduce the impact and reduces the visibility of the crease. The theory is that should be noticed and seen less. We will discover the reality when we can analyze it.
An engine signed, again, by the house

While the Fold brothers incorporate the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 Elite for Galaxy, the Z Flip8 mounts the Exynos 2600. It is the same strategy that the firm followed last year with the Flip7, which mounted the Exynos 2500. It is a two nanometer chipten cores and a thermal management system that, at least in theory, should stand up to the thermal throttling we experienced in the Flip7.
Next to this chip we find 12 gigabytes of RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal storage, as well as 4,300 mAh battery with 25W fast charging. Same setup as last year, in a nutshell. Samsung still does not dare to make the leap to silicon-carbon and, in terms of performance, the experience should be very similar.

A change is found in the operating system, which is now Android 17 with One UI 9. Samsung, by the way, promises seven years of updates. Numbers aside, the Z Flip8 has seen the FlexWindow experience renewed, that is, the capabilities of the external screen, the one we use when it is folded.
According to Samsung, FlexWindow “brings apps, information and actions directly to the outer screen,” so in theory it should be possible to use apps like WhatsApp or email from that screen. Now Brief is also displayed on that screen and, by clicking on the side button, it is possible to automate actions through Gemini Intelligence.
Two cameras with the focus on creation

Few, if any, changes in hardware compared to the last generation. The Flip8 mounts a set of two sensors on the rear (50 MP wide angle with OIS and 12 MP wide angle) and a front sensor on the 10 MP internal screen. We do not have telephoto, as is common in this range.
We will use the 10 megapixel camera for video calls and little else, in case this format allows something, it is being able to use the main cameras for selfies (group ones included). Flex Mode allows you to place the folded screen in any position to use it as a tripod, for example; And as a novelty, now the camera is capable of blocking the horizon so that the videos come out well framed even when moving.
