Almost five years have passed since we met the first Framework laptop. This team represented a turning point in an industry that, progressively, has been limited the capacity of users to perform repairs and updates. Since then, the American company has continued innovating with new products, such as Laptop 16 Framework and several versions of the Laptop 13 framework. Now his commitment to modularity takes another step with the renewed framework laptop 13 and the new laptop framework 12.
Framework laptop 13, more power with AMD heart
The Laptop 13 Framework is updated with the new AMD Ryzen AI chips from the 300 series. The base version incorporates a Ryzen AI 5 340, with six nuclei and a four -core RADEON 840m GPU. For those who seek more power, there is an option with the Ryzen AI 7 350, which rises to eight nuclei and a Radeon 860m graph, also with eight nuclei. At the top of the range is the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, which raises the bet with 12 CPU nuclei and a Radoeon 890m 16 -core GPU. In all models, the NPU reaches 50 tops.
But the firm not only bets on power. The company has improved the thermal system with new algorithms and optimized materials. It has also renewed the keyboard, which maintains a 1.5 mm route, but now it is quieter. As for the screen, we can choose between a 1.5K panel with 400 nits and 60 Hz, or a more advanced option of 2.8K with 500 nits and 120 Hz. As aesthetic touch, both the bezels of the frame and the expansion cards are now translucent and are available in various colors.
In the memory section, Framework allows us to configure this model with up to 8 TB of storage available through a SSD WD Black NVME unit. If we focus on RAM, the limit is 96 GB DDR5-5600. In either case we can use storage units or compatible memory cards previously acquired or acquired separately. Recall that, precisely, one of the main characteristics of this type of modularity and repair equipment.
Framework laptop 12, smaller and with a touch screen
This Tuesday’s event has also left us another interesting future launch: the laptop framework 12, An input convertible with touch screen of 1920×1200 pixels, 400 shine nits and support for Stylus. This model stands out for its flexible design and will allow configurations with Intel Core I3 or I5 processors of 13th generation (presented in 2023), up to 48 GB of RAM and 2 TB of NVME storage. There are no lack of Wi-Fi 6E and expansion options, with four expansion card slots.
Price and availability of the new Laptop 13 and Framework laptop 12 Framework 12
The new Laptop 13 framework is already available for reservation on the manufacturer’s website, with prices from 1,089 euros for the DIY Edition version and 1,309 euros for the pre -assembly model. Shipments will begin in April. For its part, the Laptop 12 framework may be reserved as of April, but its price has not yet been revealed. Deliveries are scheduled for the middle of this year. Currently, the Framework online store has a waiting list due to high demand, according to the company.
