Cristiano Ronaldo sealed the victory against Al Fateh of Al Nassr (3-1) by scoring a goal for his team in the final stretch, number 920 throughout his professional career.
Ronaldo is only eighty away from a thousand official goals. The most recent came in the 88th minute of the duel against the bottom of the Saudi Arabian League, when he beat Hungarian goalkeeper Peter Szappanos by taking advantage of a cross from the right by Senegalese Sadio Mane.
The goal rounded off the victory for Italian Stefano Pioli’s team, the second in a row that places them, provisionally, in third place in the competition to the detriment of Al Qadisiya led by Michel González, which on Monday receives the leader, Al Hilal.
Al Nassr capitalized on the shortcomings of the visiting team, bottom of the standings, five away from safety, and on the brink of half-time, in the 41st minute, they took the lead thanks to an own goal from Moroccan Marwane Saadane.
At the hour mark he scored the second, scored by Frenchman Mohamed Simakan after a pass from Brazilian Angelo. Although the Moroccan Mourad Batna scored for Al Fateh and closed the gap, Cristiano Ronaldo, in the 72nd minute, rounded off the visitors’ victory by taking a pass from Sadio Mane into the net.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored another one in added time but it was disallowed for offside.
The victory provisionally puts Al Nassr third, one point ahead of Al Qadisiya, fourth and eight behind Al Ittihad and Al Hilal, who share the lead.
