The 2025 NBA All-Star Game will be different, with a new format designed to increase competitiveness and entertainment.

For the first time, the All-Star will be transformed into a four-team mini-tournament. There will be three games: two semifinals and a final, with the first team to reach 40 points in each duel proclaimed as the winner.

The 24 most voted players will be divided into three teams of eight members, while a fourth team, made up of the emerging stars of the ‘Rising Stars’ program, will complete the competition.

The NBA will distribute 1.8 million dollars in prizes, with $125,000 dollars for each player on the champion team.

For their part, the finalists will win $50,000 dollars and those in third and fourth place will get $25,000 dollars.

40-year-old star LeBron James was announced as a starter for the next NBA All-Star Game, which will take place on February 16 in San Francisco.

For their part, the Eastern starters will be led by Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks) and will have Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns (New York Knicks), Donovan Mitchell (Cleveland Cavaliers) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).

The NBA seeks this renewed format to inject greater excitement into the All-Star Game, an event that has been criticized in recent years for its lack of intensity. In addition to the attractive financial prizes, the change promises to offer a more dynamic show adapted to the demands of the fans.

LeBron, who has been a constant in the All-Star since his first selection in 2005, will be one of the main attractions of the event.
