features, price and technical sheet

If what we are looking for is a phone that takes up less space in our pocket, but that when opened behaves like a large cell phone, a foldable clamshell phone may be a good option. The idea is quickly understood, but other things such as specifications and, above all, how much it costs also matter. with the new razr 70, razr 70 Plus and razr 70 Ultrawhat we have seen is a family that aims precisely at that need: very similar on the outside, but much more separated when we start to look inside.

The range is organized into three fairly clear steps. The Motorola razr 70 is the gateway, with the lowest price of the family and some visible concessions in external screen, processor and charging. The razr 70 Plus occupies the middle ground, already with a 4-inch external screen, a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 and a more balanced card. The razr 70 Ultra is reserved for those looking for the most ambitious: better processor, more memory, larger capacity battery, faster charging and a more complete camera system.

Motorola has made three razr 70, not three copies of the same mobile

Motorola’s first big message is not in the processor or the camera, but in the design. The company relies again on Pantone to give personality to each model, but it does not do it in the same way throughout the range. The razr 70 is the most varied in colors, with Hematite, Violet Ice, Sporting Green and Bright White. The Plus stays in a single Pantone Mountain View, while the Ultra looks for a more sophisticated point with Orient Blue in Alcantara and Cocoa with a wood finish.

As we say, the separation that is easiest to see in everyday life begins on screens. The razr 70 has a 3.63-inch external screen that, according to the firm, is enough to run complete applications, check notifications or respond to messages without opening the phone. In the razr 70 Plus and the razr 70 Ultra the jump is in the outer 4 inches, with a refresh rate of up to 165 Hz. In addition, the external panel of the Plus reaches 2,400 nits of maximum brightness, while that of the Ultra goes up to 3,000 nits.

The internal screen maintains a common base in all three models, but not all of them play the same. The Razr 70 opts for a 6.90-inch panel with 120 Hz, the Razr 70 Plus remains on that same diagonal but goes up to 165 Hz, and the Razr 70 Ultra takes a small leap up to 6.96 inches, also with 165 Hz. Beyond the size, the real difference is in the refresh rate: the higher the number, the greater the fluidity, something that is especially noticeable in games and when navigating the interface.

Part of that difference is explained with LTPO. This type of panel allows you to vary the refresh rate in real time, reducing it when it is not necessary or increasing it when we are looking for maximum response. This, as you can imagine, has a direct impact on autonomy: by not always maintaining the highest rate, consumption is better adjusted to real use and the battery should stretch more on a day-to-day basis. In the case of the Razr 70 Ultra, in addition, the peak brightness reaches 5,000 nitsmaking it easy to use outdoors even in bright conditions.

In processor and memory we no longer talk only about nuances. The razr 70 remains the most contained option with the MediaTek Dimensity 7450X. This is a recently presented proposal, but contained. The only big new feature compared to the previous generation is compatibility with dual screens. This mobile also comes with a base configuration of 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB.

If we focus on the razr 70 Plus we notice the league change. Here the mobile equips a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3a processor that is already two years old and that at the time was presented as a “lite” version of the Snapdragon Gen 3. The Plus model comes with 12 GB of RAM and options of 256 or 512 GB of storage.

The razr 70 Ultra saves the most powerful part: Snapdragon 8 Elite16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage in the version announced for Spain. As for the chip, we are talking about the most advanced Android proposal at this time. Advantages? In addition to the jump in performance that this represents, we find the possibility of taking better advantage of Moto AI (Motorola’s AI), executing some tasks locally.

In cameras, Motorola maintains a very recognizable common base, but once again reserves the most ambitious part for the Ultra. The razr 70 and razr 70 Plus feature a dual 50MP main system, with a main, ultra-wide-angle camera with Macro Vision and a 32MP internal camera for selfies and video calls. The razr 70 Ultra raises the bar with three 50 MP cameras in total: main with LOFIC sensor, ultra wide angle with Macro Vision and also 50 MP internal camera. It is also the only one of the three capable of recording video in 8K at 30 fps.

The battery leaves one of the curiosities of the range. The razr 70, the most affordable model, has a 4,800 mAh battery, above the 4,500 mAh of the razr 70 Plus. The difference is in the charging: the first stays at 30W TurboPower, while the Plus goes up to 45W and adds reverse charging. The Ultra recovers the expected logic with 5,000 mAh, 68W fast charging and 30W wireless charging. According to Motorola estimates, both the base model and the Ultra exceed 36 hours of autonomy.

There is another block of specifications that may not make as much noise, but that helps to better understand the complete product. Motorola talks about a titanium-reinforced hinge for all three models, as well as IP48 protection. The protection of the outer screen changes depending on the step: Gorilla Glass Victus on the razr 70 and razr 70 Plus, and Gorilla Glass Ceramic on the razr 70 Ultra. The practical detail is in the box, because only the Ultra comes with a 90W charger included.

And this is where the family begins to read each other better. We are not looking at three mobile phones separated only by a number on the label, but rather three ways of understanding how far a compact folding device should go. The razr 70 seems designed for those who want to enter this format without going to the extreme. The Plus seeks that middle point where the external screen and performance already weigh more. The Ultra, on the other hand, does not hide: It is Motorola’s technical and aesthetic showcase. The brand is not only focusing on the specifications: it also seems to be looking for its own identity through materials, colors and a specific way of carrying the mobile phone.

In Spain, Motorola has announced the arrival of the new razr 70 family with these starting prices, with a clear reference for each step of the range and two options announced for the razr 70 Plus. This is how the configurations and prices look:

  • Motorola razr 70 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage: from 869 euros.
  • Motorola razr 70 Plus with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage: from 1,049 euros.
  • Motorola razr 70 Plus with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage: from 1,149 euros.
  • Motorola razr 70 Ultra with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage: from 1,399 euros.
